I've been fortunate to co-design and co-lecture the Game Theory and Control (ETH) and Social Computing (UZH) courses. Moreover, I've been a teaching assistant for Economics and Computation, Advanced Topics in Control, and Algorithmic Auditing.
Game theory is the study of strategic decision-making and was originally used to solve problems in economics. In this course, we study concepts and methods in non-cooperative game theory and show how these can be used to solve control design problems, emphasizing their possible use in control systems, robotics, and engineering applications. We also analyze how technological designs can impact individuals' strategic actions, leading to negative consequences for society (e.g., unfairness and inequality).
Social computing studies the intersection of social behavior and computing systems, with social behavior shaping how computing systems are designed and computing systems influencing how humans interact. In this course, we learn how to collect (via online experiments and digital traces) and generate (via agent-based modeling) data, as well as use this data to answer societally relevant research questions.Β
